Our Story
The Philosophy
At Concinnitas Farm, a single question guides everything we do: how can we compose a singular wine experience that is perfectly suited to this landscape? Guided by curiosity and creativity, and unbound by convention, our approach is to honor the wisdom of tradition and reimagine it for this specific time and place.
Designed from the ground up with the unique features of the farm in mind, every decision we make exists in harmony with our farm. We farm with intention, not manipulation; we craft wine to reveal, not to conform. The result is a diverse portfolio of wines where elegance, character and complexity emerge naturally - a harmonious whole that exceeds the sum of its parts.
The Farm
The farm remains at the center of everything we do, setting the boundaries we honor and the possibilities we explore. From a blank canvas, we designed what has become one of the most diverse fermentation farms in the Willamette Valley. Decades of combined experience – in the Willamette Valley and around the globe – guided us to a clear and critical conclusion: this site is distinctly its own. Defined by its Roman amphitheater–shaped hillside, orientation, ancient soils, afternoon coastal winds, and native oak groves, the landscape demanded a deliberate departure from convention – one perfectly suited to this place.
In response to this landscape, we selected mostly unconventional grape varieties and clones that truly belong on this farm — ones that ripen slowly, preserve acidity, develop deep and complex flavors, and thrive under the intense conditions of our farm. Their placement, orientation, and training systems were meticulously designed to accentuate these qualities and carry them through to the wines. The vineyard is one expression of a broader vision: Concinnitas Farm was conceived as a complete fermentation landscape, encompassing fruit orchards planted primarily to traditional Spanish cider apple varieties, as well as hops and grains — all unified by the same principles of site, intention, and harmony.
Our farming practices are rooted in the belief that what nourishes the land will nourish the wine. Rather than pursuing efficiency or predetermined outcomes, we painstakingly cultivate a landscape capable of expressing its fullest potential. Throughout the seasons, our organic and regenerative practices sustain a resilient, vibrant farm. Biodiversity — from the vines and cover crops to the native oak grove at the heart of the amphitheater — strengthens the ecosystem and deepens the character of the wines it inspires, fostering soil health and microbial life essential to wines of depth and integrity.
The Winemaking
In the cellar, we maintain the same disciplined curiosity that shaped the vineyard’s design. We do not chase a particular style. Instead, we let the farm and the vintage define it. Each block is harvested at peak flavor and vinified separately, allowing its individual voice to emerge. Fermentation is an unhurried, natural process, entirely guided by native yeasts. We forgo manipulation or filtration, and are instead guided by careful observation and restraint. This patient, minimalist approach ensures the wines remain fully alive, expressing an honesty and unconstructed complexity.
Patience and precision define the final stages of our work. Extended aging – in barrel and bottle – allows each component to settle into balance, revealing greater nuance and cohesion over time. These are not merely technical choices, but expressions of our philosophy — a commitment to wines that are neither constructed nor constrained, but shaped by thoughtful design and the quiet alchemy of time.
